Note: There is no Pre-entry process for the RIT Open Indoor Track Series. You can only sign up on the day of the meet.
We suggest that athletes under 18 should print out the entry form and have your parent/guardian sign the waiver and bring it with you to the meet.
12/26/09 Upstate NY Holiday Classic XI
Meet Summary:
What a great Upstate NY Holiday Classic XI.
Congratulations to Jim Derick, M44, Big Flats, NY, 4:40.27 and Catherine Meyer, Buffalo, NY, F42, 6:22.25 who each won $50 for their victories in the Roger Messenger Memorial Masters Mile races. Also congrats to the Messenger Masters Mile Age-Graded Champ Jim Robinson, Rochester, NY, M56, 4:58.89 whose age-grading of 89.47% also earned him $50. Next year we plan to age-grade every event in the meet and offer a cash prize to the overall age-graded champ.
The highlight of the meet had to be the record setting shot put by Melissa Kurzdorfer, F17, Lancaster, NY. Her 14.88m shot put throw is the new New York State High School Indoor Track & Field Senior Class record. Melissa also had an outstanding 17.53m throw in the Indoor Weight Throw.
Thanks to our new Meet Director Brendan Fitzgerald and F.A.T. Operators Brian Sparacino and Dave Yendryzski for their work in putting on such a great meet. Special thanks to all of our Officials who work far below scale to help put on this Classic event.And finally thanks go to RIT, the RIT Athletic Department and RIT Head Track and Cross Country Coach Dave Warth for their cooperation and for allowing us the use of their great facility, the Gordon Field House.
We are debating when to hold next year's Upstate NY Holiday Classic XII. Since Christmas and New Year's Day are both on Saturdays, do we hold the meet on Sunday, December 26, 2010 or Sunday, January 2, 2011? Another option would be to wait a week and try to get the RIT facility on Saturday, January 8, 2011. What do you think? Send your opinion to next year's Meet Director Brendan Fitzgerald at
